The Adaptation Fund NGO Network is a coalition of civil society organisations (CSOs) engaging in discussions and debates on the Adaptation Fund's policies and closely following the planning and implementation of the Fund's projects. The Network's aim is to support those most vulnerable to climate change and ensure their benefit from the Adaptation Fund. This is why it works on strengthening transparent and participative processes within the Fund. The Network aims to ensure the effective engagement of civil society not only at Fund level, but also at the local level, throughout project planning and implementation. Making the Adaptation Fund work for the most vulnerable communities will strongly rely on the input and engagement of global civil society. >>> more 'About us'

Regional Hub Workshop for the Southern African Region

On the 13th of September 2016, Indigo Development & Change (South Africa) organized a workshop to launch the Southern African Regional Hub under the Adaptation Fund NGO Network. The goal of the regional hub is to support civil society and government actors in Southern Africa in processes regarding the Adaptation Fund (AF). The Regional Hub will also take over the role of encouraging members of the AF NGO Network in Southern Africa to participate in AF NGO Network activities. Similar Regional Hubs will be set up in East Africa, West Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and Asia/Pacific over the next years. A national interplay of adaptation actors is important: How to track its progress?
For the past five years the Adaptation Fund NGO Network has been dedicating its work on accompanying projects carried out under the mandate of the Adaptation Fund. However, it is the reality that this is not sufficient to ensure a path towards rights-based adaptation funding and climate resiliency in our partner countries. This paper has the objective to look beyond the Adaptation Fund projects, particular assessing the state and level of interplay between different implementing and financing entities of adaptation projects being active in the same country.

On the 7th and 8th of May 2015, ForumCC (Tanzania) organized a workshop to launch the East Africa Regional Hub under the Adaptation Fund NGO Network. The goal of the regional hub is to support civil society and government actors in East Africa in processes regarding the Adaptation Fund (AF). The Regional Hub will also take over the role of encouraging members of the AF NGO Network in East Africa to participate in AF NGO Network activities. Similar Regional Hubs will be set up in Southern Africa, West Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and Asia/Pacific over the next years. Seven Adaptation Fund NGO Network Partner have prepared Baseline Mappings describing the state of the Adaptation Fund project in their respective countries as well as outlining the overall climate change adaptation landscape. The Baseline Mappings all provide detailed insights into the countries' work on adaptation and thus serve as a ideal basis for a comparative analysis.
