For the first time in Africa, this workshop will bring together accredited implementing entities of the UNFCCC Adaptation Fund on the continent and African institutions that wish to gain accreditation from the Adaptation Fund Board.
The workshop will discuss common obstacles that African National/ Multilateral/ and Regional Implementing Entities face during the accreditation process, execution of projects, as well as the opportunities, strategies and insights for effective utilization of funds disbursed from the Adaptation Fund. This meeting seeks to build a community of practice at fund operations level, where learning and open dialogue can help build confidence and capacity at national level and enhance ownership of fund processes and project implementation.
The workshop is hosted by the National Environment Management Authority of Kenya and supported by the Heinrich Boell Foundation, UNFCCC Adaptation Fund and the Climate and Development Knowledge Network. Germanwatch is contributing to the meeting through the Adaptation Fund NGO Network by writing an independent input on the state of direct access on the continent.
